Nips XI by Ruth Starke
Review by Madza and Mazz Team

Nips XI is a well written story for all ages. It teaches people about racism, sportsmanship, and how to have a good initiative and to get a goal. A rating out of 10 would be 9.999 because  some of the language in it was not all that good for young children.

The story is about a boy called Lan whose culture is Vietnamese. He wants to play cricket but his parents say no. He has to get a team. He has to go through lots of obstacles which teach him about modern day life. He also has opportunities which are exciting.

We think all the NIPS XI characters were realistic because their attitudes were good, you could feel like they were right next to you talking. The way that the story was written it made us feel like we were there at the scene. The descriptive and funny words that the author used. The writer's style was excellent because  Ruth Stake has a way of writing was is easy to read and easy to read and understand and is excellent to us because we love reading her books all the time. She has very creative writing which makes it fun and interesting for all ages to read just like us...
