Extra Teacher Resources:

1. In the story the pigeons help break down barriers between Seb and others. Firstly, he forms a friendship with Mr. Neary but later on other people start to take an interest in Seb and the pigeons. Make a list of the new friends Seb makes during the story.

2. Write an article for the local paper on pigeon racing.

3. Draw a cartoon strip of Tailspinner's journey, OR paint or draw a scene from the book that you feel was important. Write a paragraph explaining why.

4. Choose a scene from the book and dramatise it, possibly one of the chapters where Seb makes a new friend or where he convinces his parents that he is able to care for Mr.Neary's pigeons.

5. Make a model of a pigeon loft. (Click for instructions).

6. Interview others about their feelings as they read the book.
