myinternet Limited is dedicated to helping Australian schools achieve great educational leaps. Leaps occur when challenges are taken up - so we invite you all to participate in our monthly challenges.

Entries are judged by a panel of primary and secondary teachers and winning schools not only receive recognition certificate but are linked to the myinternet desktop for a month, as examples of the heights Aussie schools can reach.

It is expected that to win School of the Month you will take up one of the challenges issued for that month. Generally schools nominating their website for recognition for School of the Month would have also fulfilled the challenge criteria.

JUNE ( due: 01/07 )

Using the Internet

  • Show or tell us about the special things your school has done using the Internet

    OR

Education Week
  • Show or tell us what special Internet activities your school has done/is doing during Education Week.

To enter this challenge you need to:

Link us to the pages within your school site that show us something special your students have done using the Internet as part of your regular program or for Education Week. It may be a special project done by your year sevens, in which they used the Internet to research a topic and publish their findings. It may be a special theme done by the whole school, which involved each grade producing a web page to make up a 'mini site' on that theme. It might even be a mini web site set up between your students and those at another school as part of a collaborative project.

For Victorian schools one way you can demonstrate use of Internet during Education Week is joining the Schoolsnet Education Week Cyber Connexions Project .

JULY(due: 01/08)

Infoquest

  • Show us an infoquest/s created by your teachers or students.

Federation Year
  • Describe the ways your school has used the Internet to celebrate Federation Year.

To enter this challenge you need to:

Link us to the section of your web site that contains one or more infoquests designed by your teachers or students. Click here for an explanation of Infoquests

OR

Link us to the section of your school site which describes/shows ways in which your school used the Internet to celebrate the Federation Year. It might be a mini site containing photographs of special activities held at your school along with pages published by the students on their thoughts and feelings about Federation. It could be a mini site put together by students as a result of a Federation research project etc.

AUGUST (due: 01/09)

Innovative use of E-mail

  • How has your school organized e-mail for its staff and students? What are the ways in which they use it?

The Census
  • How has your school utilised the Internet to educate about the Census?

To enter this challenge you need to:

Link us to a page on your web site which describes your school's use of e-mail. This page should tell us who in your school uses e-mail and ways in which e-mail use has changed aspects of your teaching and learning program.

OR

Link us to the section of your web site which describes/shows the ways in which your school has utilised the Internet to help your students gain a good understanding about the Census.

One way schools can access Census related lesson plans and activities during Census Week is by clicking on the ABS hyperlink available in the Education Resources property on the myinternet desktop.

SEPTEMBER (due: 01/10)

Effective use of myinternet properties

  • What are some of the creative and effective things you have done with any of the myinternet properties?

To enter this challenge you need to:

Link us to a page on your web site which describes how your school or any teacher at your school, has improved learning or communication through utilization of one or more of the myinternet properties. For example, how have you used myinternet Noticeboards, Chat, CGI forms etc at your school?

OCTOBER(due: 01/11)

Extended Learning

  • How have your gifted or integrated students used the Internet to extend their learning in any subject area?

Collaborative Learning
  • Show us your collaborative project site!

    Link us to the section of your web site that describes or shows how any students at your school with special learning needs have used the Internet to extend their understanding of a subject.

    Link us to the section of your site which shows or describes a collaborative project undertaken between your students and students at another school.

School Camp!

  • Show us your School Camp web pages! Educational, or funny. What did your students do on camp this year?

Student-created Games
  • Show us some of the web games your students have created.

To enter this challenge you need to:

Link us to the section of your web site which shows what your students did on School Camp this year.

OR

Link us to the section of your web site which shows the interactive web games created by your students. These could be simple quizes with linked web pages, Shockwave movies created in Director, or any applications capable of being displayed on a web page, that have been programmed by your students.
