International Schools Cyberfair

runs from October 15, 2002 - March 14, 2003. In support of "Friendship Through Education," a White House initiative, the theme for CyberFair 2003 is "Educate and Unite!" This international challenge encourages students to produce a web site that tells a story about how people or programs in their own local communities use education to help make the world better, friendlier or safer.
Students conduct research about their local communities and then publish their findings on the World Wide Web. Recognition is given to schools for the best entries in each of eight categories: local leaders, businesses, community organizations, historical landmarks, environment, music, art, and local specialties.

The outstanding I'm Special resource is an exciting new project exploring what makes us special as individuals, as citizens of our own locality and as citizens of a changing and developing world. This Welsh Assembly project is free for all schools, and is of excellent quality. They explain, "tell us what makes you special and you can also see and hear what makes other people special."

The latest venture by Jesse Martin is the Journey of Kijana. A Celebration of Youth, Discovery and the Human Spirit. Jesse has arranged an online project. Jesse and his crew of four will be sailing around the world over a two year period. With on-line activities, such as email updates, the wonderwall, and the chatroom they will share their experiences with students everywhere.

The Piano Nanny is a new site for students and teachers to use in the aid of learning to play the piano. The Piano Nanny has a series of lessons designed for the beginner to the advanced music student. The lessons begin by introducing students to the wonderful world of piano music with lots of handy hints and information. At the end of each unit is a quick quiz which students would love to complete. This series of lessons helps students to create their own music. A wonderful site to use as an accompaniment to a school music program that teachers could use in their classrooms.

  The Virtual Field Trip: Sand Dunes.
This site is an interactive, virtual field trip to North Stradbroke Island. The outstanding educational resource was created by Sally Mack in Queensland. The virtual field trip is intended to familiarise students with the kind of tasks that they would be required to do on an actual trip.
